Blake's Party

The last few days have seemed extra busy and I am looking forward to a quiet week. Friday was spent preparing things for Blake's birthday party which was a shared birthday with his cousin. Saturday was the party and we had a lot of fun. Really it was 8 adults and 4 children, all family- that seems enough though. Then today Blake had a school friends birthday party, they own a bouncing castle business so Blake had tonnes of fun jumping away while I took the opportunity to go food shopping with no kids- lots of running around!

This was a guess how many legos in the jar game. Wanna take a guess?

A Cook Up

Last night I pulled Blake into the kitchen and got him to help me do some cooking. I had a list of things I wanted to make and Blake sure does love to help! First up we made some beef stock which later got turned into a thrown together minestrone soup. We talked about where the bones came form and why and what we were using them for- he had many questions.
Then we made a batch of Anzac biscuits , Blake is staring to roll them into balls. Check out my bowl, I made that in my past life! If you are trying to have a more simple life like me why not think about buying some homemade ceramics- ceramicist are in general an amazing bunch of people who are very skilled and talented! The process is quite Eco friendly I would say and you end up with completely amazingly unique item that you will treasure:) Eventually I would love it if Paul would build me a kiln and I could pick up a wheel, I often still dream about wheel throwing, working with clay can be amazingly soothing and is a fantastic process....
Then Blake helped me make Rhonda's orange cake (from 'Down to Earth' you can check it our in my side bar) but we put it in cupcake cases this time, we all love this cake and it is super simple to make. You put everything in the food processor and buzz it, Blake loves that part.
Oh and we had a loaf of bread rising. Which was later eaten with some of the yummy soup!

One Happy Thing

These muffins where whipped up just in time for after school snacks. Blake loved them and there were all eaten up almost before I could take a photo!
So I didn't quite make it for posting everyday in July although I did do much better, I think 19 posts might be a record :) So I'm unofficially giving it another crack in August!

8th Crafty day

I unlike many Aussies have never made White Christmas or chocolate crackles . So when Paul came home form work talking about white Christmas that a lady at work had made and he had sample of. I asked if she might be able to give me her recipe - she did! And on Sunday we made white Christmas.....At least Blake and Paul did because as soon as Luke saw what Blake was doing Luke wanted to join in. So Paul suggested that he make chocolate crackles (the recipe was on the rice bubble pack) so we made both!Rosemary's White Christmas: Combine1 and 1/2 cups of Rice bubbles, 1/2 cup of coconut and csr soft icing mixture, 100 gms of glace cherries, 1/4 cup of dried currant in a medium bowl , mix well. Stir in 125g melted Copha, mix until coated, spoon into patty cases .Refrigerate until firm Makes about 25
check out Blake's crazy face!!! LOL
This was the first time that Luke has ever 'cooked' anything I was so proud of him. He often likes to watch us cook but never participates.
I haven't been able to blog lately cos my mouse died so...I am hoping to post this afternoon to make up for it :)

Today I came up with some cupcake toppers pink and grey (silver) to go with my family room decorations. And some green and red ones which are a little more chrismassy. I have made them back to back, green on one side and red on the other. I am hoping in the next few days to work out how to do a pdf in blogger so you can print some out too :)

Cupcakes again

I know I know I really have gone cupcake crazy and I just cant seem to help myself but anyway we have been making cupcakes today and they are christmasey . We have also made about 10m of Christmas wrapping paper from brown paper from the newsagent, we put hand prints and stars and baubles on it, Blake had a lovely time getting messy as you can see :) I haven't scrapbooked lately and its kinda because i did a bit of a stock take of all my lo this year and i have so many they don't fit into the albums i have - so i have a choice: to buy more albums or to find a different way to store them- but most other ways mean that you cant look at the pages. Any way my problem is that if i have like four or more albums every year and i keep going and going and going then where am i going to store all of these albums ???? and that is going to be a whole heap of albums!! Golly Gosh what is a girl to do??? lol
