On My Door

Christmas is happening over here, the lights are on the house, both the trees are up (and Paul admitted that this year he prefers the pink tree to the traditional one in our bay window! OMG), advent calenders are in full swing- with one counting down and the chocolate one counting up makes me a confused mummy! There have been some Christmas crafts and we even have an  ELF staying with us until Christmas eve.
I managed to whip this wreath up right before December First, it is wrapped in glittery aqua fabric and then divine twine around it.
It definitely stands out you can see it from the road! I love this time of year it is so nice to sit down at the end of the day and enjoy the twinkling lights, if only there was snow! Fat chance of that happening here in the middle of summer :)

My Nook

This week has been so strange with having Paul home,I love having him here and I don't really want him to go back to work but I have also realised that I generally have quite a strict routine throughout the day. My routine allows me to get a lot done, to keep the house cleanish and to cook and even to have craft time around what the boys are doing. There are days when I am here at home just having a quiet one with Luke and that is fine, there are lots of days when I procrastinate over a job i don't want to do or even something crafty that I have been wanting to do but get stuck. With Paul home everything is different, I realise that we are in Holiday mode but I feel like I ma getting nothing done (including blogging!) I hate that!!. Anyway I thought that I would show you a little project that Paul completed (almost) last week.
As you walk through my front door to the right there is a nook. There are three nooks in our house this one is the largest, it is the deepest and I have been struggling with what to do with it. I have had all sorts of things there different little tables and even had the easel there for a while
I decided that it would be a perfect place for some book shelves, I have had little piles of books scattered around the house- a gardening pile, a sewing pile, a cooking pile and a few others. So when the shelves went up I couldn't help myself but to get my books straight in there and a few other bits and bobs just to see what it would look like.It turns out that I don't have as many books as I thought I did, I am gonna have to find myself some more :) All of it is gonna have to come down so that I can paint the shelves
Its nice to have something done around here- something that I wouldn't normally do myself :)

In my home

Today I thought I might share with you my sewing space. I am a super lucky girl I have my very own craft room, the room is on the back corner of the house. It has two doors to it on one side I can see straight through to the kitchen and family room (where the boys spend most of there time) and through the second door is what we call 'our lounge room' this is where Paul and I spend time at night watching movies doing puzzles and hanging out.

So I can pretty much be in this room and still be a part of what is going on in the house and see if the boys are up to mischief. On the other hand if i want I can close the doors and have my own space.. I have to remind myself that I am lucky, I often see others craft spaces that are in  bedrooms or just a small set up and I love how cute they are but I am sure that there owners dream of having space like I do. When we were choosing our home the room I have was a formal dining room, we have a large dining space in the family room and how often would we really use a formal dining room- were not that kind of people :)
My little janome is the cheapest janome that you can buy- and I LOVE IT! Paul's grand parents saw it advertised in the tv guide (as you do :P ) and wanted to buy it for me. Although it is very basic it is reliable and it does most of what I need, one day may be I will get a machine that can do more but for now it is great. See my little sewing basket that was also Paul's nan's sewing basket and is well worn by me, it could do with a little fixing.  Ahhh and still so much to do in the garden, I will get there !!!! :)

On my Table

I thought I might start showing you what is on my table each week. I have been finding it so refreshing to change it up this year and have been doing it each week but haven't been photographing it.Lot of weeks there have been lots of pink and silver, during Blake's birthday there were sculls and treasures so hopefully there will be lots of variety!

This weekend we made.....and a little corner of my house :)

This weekend I made some of these tissue paper pom pom thingos, I have been seeing them everywhere on blogland and have wanted to make some and finally came across a video showing how to make them.We have a nook in our family room that has been waiting for something pretty, I am still yet to find something permanent I'm not sure if I want a piece of furniture or a pretty picture. But for now I quite like these hangy things hanging in there. The video i found is herehttp://wendysmedley.typepad.com/possibilities/2010/04/paper-chandeliers-video-with-margie.html (sorry i still dont have the hang of the linky thing)Paul made some delicious bread rolls that he kneaded in the bread maker then baked in the oven. I can safely say that there is nothing better than fresh hot bread rolls straight out of the oven YUM!!And now for a little corner of my house that i am happy with atm....My Wardrobe (actually i share the wardrobe with Paul but guys don't really care about wardrobes do they??)I finally have an organized wardrobe that works for me!! I know it does because it has stayed like this for the last six weeks and has been easy to put things away in there own little spot. Paul does have some room in that shelfy thingo at least one box- the little white one has all his ties neatly rolled up in there! heee heee :P And yes that is from ikea and it is similar to the one i have in the scrapping booking room (as Blake likes to call it) I LOVE IKEA and i love this shelfy thingo- we turned it on its side. check out the pink gumboots that i bought on the weekend- they are gonna be so fantabulos for stomping around in that big backyard of ours!
Even my shoes are neatly packed away and those two baskets on wheels on the floor there have some more shoes in one and winter scarfs and bennie's in them. Th coat hangers are from ikea too, I got rid of all the old plastic and wire coat hangers and invested in some wooden ones which i love. I gotta say that it really does make a difference to your wardrobe if you have all the same coat hangers it looks so much better and they don't all get tangled up. Have i talked enough yet?? ok ill stop.
Thanks for stopping by :D
