On My Door

Christmas is happening over here, the lights are on the house, both the trees are up (and Paul admitted that this year he prefers the pink tree to the traditional one in our bay window! OMG), advent calenders are in full swing- with one counting down and the chocolate one counting up makes me a confused mummy! There have been some Christmas crafts and we even have an  ELF staying with us until Christmas eve.
I managed to whip this wreath up right before December First, it is wrapped in glittery aqua fabric and then divine twine around it.
It definitely stands out you can see it from the road! I love this time of year it is so nice to sit down at the end of the day and enjoy the twinkling lights, if only there was snow! Fat chance of that happening here in the middle of summer :)

Hats and Things

A few weeks back I treated myself to an online purchase of some books I have been wanting. My list of books I want is quite long right now and am hoping that Paul might get me some for my birthday. I think I have a bit of a book addiction (Paul is working on a place to store them right now, I will share tomorrow- I am super excited)
I decided that the bucket hat from 'little things to sew' would make great Christmas pressies for my nieces and nephews and my boys since it will be hot here then. I had no one here to model the hat so I enlisted Blake's bob the builder :)
It turned out quite well and I'm really happy with it, it was a fairly simple pattern and was quick to make.I have another almost finished!
Luke's quilt is on its way too. I have sewn it all together and have pinned it up ready to hand stitch the top.
There should be lots going on over here this week. With Paul home it has eased the atmosphere- he is doing most of the parenting and we are about to begin some projects around here which is all making me very happy. I love having him home, though ask me again in two weeks and my answer may be quite the opposite.

Today I Made....

Do you really know how much money you spend on pressies every year? Yesterday we were going through our budget and I discovered just how much money we spend on pressies every year and I have to say I was FLABBERGASTED OMG. And we only buy for our small family, my brother and his family, Paul's sister and her family and our parents that's it! So today out came the sewing machine I am planning on making even more pressies this year with my big fat pile of fabric that I already have. Today I made a set of coasters:And I kinda love them, they feel so nice and they are super simple to make and they didn't take forever.
I will be making more of these and might even make a set for myself to go with the new pink latte mugs I bought!
They make a cute little gift :)

There has been some sewing going on over here..... there is an idea starting to come to life.....an idea that has been brewing and waiting for the right time for the past six years.....is there ever a right time?????If only I could get the colour in the photo right- the colours are so much sweeter in real life!
AND since my next post is my 200th I think there may be a little giveaway!

A Rocket Bag Tag

So Paul had his knee operation on Thursday and whilst he was under the knife I was let loose with cash in the city! Yippieee!!!! Anyway Blake and Paul had both given me loooongggg lists of things they wanted me to get for them including DVDs, books, documentaries and a few other bits and bobs. One of the things Blake asked for was a bag tag, in between all the book hunting and DVD hunting I didn't manage to find one. So last night while Paul and I were watching some TV I stitched up this bag tag I had some of those key ring thingos already in my stash. They all have the same blue bag at his school so hopefully this will make it easier to find his bag on the bag racks :)

This week I made: a diary

This week I decided that rather than waiting any longer to buy this years diary I would make one. AND I made it the simplest way that I could. 1st I took a sheet from this binder diary and traced on an a4 sheet of paper where the holes needed to go. Then in pencil I drew up a page to a week just how I like it. Once I had it how I wanted it I went over it in black pen then drew in some cute pictures.
My printer is also a colour photo copier so I copied the page back to back 26 times, chopped it in half, punched holes in the pages and YAY I have my own personalised diary that I can colour (yes every week has those pictures on them)! This was such a quick little project and cost nothing!
Yes I made my diary but do you think I could go past this calendar when I saw it??
Its pink and crafty!!! :)
It only just won over a vegie patch calender which would have been very useful :)
